As everyone knows manufacturing has contracted and has become more highly skilled. Every week I see jobs being advertised in customer service, personal care work for disabled people and administration. Telesales seems to be quite popular as well. These areas are often recruiting people, but unfortunately many of the vacancies are not particularly well paid.  However, for people who have the right qualities, there are opportunities, despite the economic downturn. Having recent work experience helps.

Leeds is still a strong financial and legal centre for the North of England, so people who have the right skills, experience and qualifications can take advantage of this.

I hope to give some facts and figures shortly on the state of the economy in Leeds.
